Portland's streetcar system used to be the largest in the United States, but by 1950 the last streetcar was gone. They're back! The opening of the Portland Streetcar line in 2001 made Portland the first city in North America to build a modern system with modern vehicles, shaping a new "linear" neighborhood in the process.
