Henry Weinhard founded his brewery in Portland in 1862, just after Oregon became a state. It became the largest brewery in the Northwest. Once, Henry tried to pump free beer through Skidmore Fountain. Even though the brewery moved elsewhere, Henry’s legend lives on in Portland.
