Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Renovation of an existing building provided the addition of welcome greenspace in central Ho Chi Minh City, a city of 22 million where rapid urbanization jostles against recent agrarian roots. Here a flowing countryside garden with sculpted landforms and native palms juxtaposes a city garden with its ornamental plantings and stone pavers. A dramatically lit central plaza featuring an elongated fountain links and unites the two. Near the entry to interior retail spaces, a sunken garden provides ample area for eating and relaxing. Each area offering splendid opportunity for play, contemplation, and conviviality.
